What we look for
We favor simple, durable things that make practice easier to return to. We will never recommend something only because it pays a commission, and we will say when a cheaper or free option works just as well.
A cushion or bench
Look for a firm cushion that lifts your hips above your knees. A kneeling bench suits people with tight hips. A chair is always fine.
A simple timer
Any phone timer works. Choose one with a gentle sound and use airplane mode during practice.
A notebook
Choose a small notebook that lies flat. Paper matters less than keeping it where you practice.
Headphones for audio
Comfortable over-ear headphones help with guided audio. Keep the volume low.
A blanket and a little light
Warmth and soft light make a corner feel inviting. Nothing needs to be bought new.
Books
Beginner-friendly books can help between practices. Our reading list will appear here after review.
