Do not delay or disregard professional medical or mental health advice because of something you have read, watched or heard through Moving Into Meditation.
2. Individual Needs and Health Conditions
Meditation, breathing exercises, mindfulness and movement practices are not appropriate in the same way for every person.
Consider your health, physical abilities, emotional state, environment and individual circumstances before trying a practice.
If you have a medical condition, injury, respiratory condition, cardiovascular condition, are pregnant, take medication that may affect physical activity, or have another health concern, consider consulting an appropriate healthcare professional before beginning a new breathing, meditation or movement practice.
3. Breathing Practices
Breathing exercises should feel comfortable and should not require you to push through distress.
Stop a breathing exercise if you experience concerning symptoms such as significant dizziness, faintness, chest pain, unusual shortness of breath or other symptoms that concern you.
Seek appropriate medical care when necessary.
4. Trauma and Mental Health
Meditation and mindfulness can affect people differently.
For some people, quiet attention, body awareness or inward focus may bring up difficult memories, emotions or sensations.
You may stop or modify a practice at any time.
If a practice causes significant emotional distress or you are managing trauma or a mental health condition, consider working with an appropriately qualified mental health professional.
5. Movement Practices
Move within your own comfortable range and avoid forcing a position or movement.
Stop if you experience sharp pain, significant dizziness, numbness, unusual weakness or another concerning symptom.
Written or visual instructions cannot account for every person’s physical condition, mobility, injury history or environment.
6. Sleep and Relaxation Content
Relaxation and sleep practices are educational wellness resources and are not treatment for insomnia, sleep disorders or another medical condition.
Persistent or concerning sleep problems should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

Do not use meditation, relaxation or breathing audio while driving, operating machinery or performing another activity that requires your full attention.
Use audio practices only when it is safe to reduce your attention to your surroundings.
